Driving to California in a Prius – 2019

San Francisco

With just a couple of days’ after returning from China, my parents and I headed out to South Dakota for my cousin Tyler’s wedding. My cousin, Ben, had gotten a job in Sacramento after his graduation and was driving there to move in after the wedding with his parents. My parents and I decided to join them. So the six of us made our way to Sacramento the day after the wedding. Ben and I drove together, while Anne and David went together, and my mom and dad followed along in the Prius. We stopped in Jackson Hole on July 2 and left for Sacramento on the 3rd. While in Jackson hole, I got a pretty slick deal on a pair of Chocos. I also snapped a nice picture of T.A. Moulton Barn.

Once we dropped Ben off at his new home in Sacramento, my parents and I drove to SanFrancisco. We went to Pier 39 for fireworks but could only see faint glimpses because of the fog. The next day we drove down Lombard Street, ate at Fisherman’s Wharf, sat and relaxed by the Painted Ladies, watched the sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge, and went to a Giants game at Oracle Park.

From SanFrancisco, we went to Yosemite and Death Valley until we made our Pit Stop in Las Vegas. That night dad and I walked 15 miles up and down the strip collecting poker chips. Most people won’t believe this, but we even met DeMar DeRozan at the Wynn Casino.

We drove to Bryce Canyon National Park and Arches National Park the next day. The most incredible thing about the whole trip is that the three of us survived driving over 5,000 miles together in a Prius.
